Norman Tower Bell Appeal

The Norman Tower bell ringers at St Edmundsbury Cathedral have launched an appeal to raise £40,000 to augment the peal of bells to 13. The Tower, which dates from the 12th century, contains a ring of 10 bells, originally cast in 1785, but re-hung in a steel frame below the existing oak frame in 1978, when the bells were also re-tuned. For full details of the current bells, this project and dates when the tower will be open to visitors please follow the 'Activities' link above and choose 'Bells' from the menu list.
