To Go Gentle Into The Good Night - Lecture by Salley Vickers
Friday 31 March at 7pm.
Salley Vickers was born in Liverpool, brought up by committed communists in a family where the only book not available was The Bible.
This provoked in her an abiding interest in religion of all kinds and many of her best selling novels (including Miss Garnet's Angel and The Other Side of You) have taken biblical narratives and worked them into contemporary psychological stories.
Her latest novel, Cousins, explores the effects of inherited family trauma and considers the moral issues around assisted suicide.
Salley now writes full time and lectures on the connections between art, psychology and religions.
